Uang Pesangon (severance pay), together with uang penghargaan masa kerja (service-period reward) and uang penggantian hak (rights compensation), is the package an Indonesian worker receives when terminated. The framework comes from UU Ketenagakerjaan No. 13/2003 as amended by UU Cipta Kerja No. 6/2023 and operationalised through PP No. 35/2021.
The multiplier on each component depends on the reason for termination. Layoff for cause attributable to the employer pays 2× the base formula; efficiency-related terminations 1×; resignation under specific clauses 1×; some categories 0.5×. The base formula gives 1 month's wage per year of service up to 9 years (max 9 months).

- Anda adalah pekerja swasta di Indonesia (formal employment, registered with BPJS).
- Hubungan kerja berakhir melalui PHK (layoff), resignation under § 162, or contract expiry with severance entitlement.
- Within 1 year of the termination (statute of limitation under PP 35/2021).

- Calculate the package — base severance (pesangon) + service-period reward (penghargaan) + rights compensation (penggantian hak), each with the multiplier set by PP 35/2021 for the termination reason.
- Bipartite negotiation — try to resolve directly with the employer within 7 working days (UU 2/2004).
- If bipartite fails, file Mediasi at Disnaker (Dinas Tenaga Kerja). Mediasi must conclude within 30 working days.
- If mediation fails, file at Pengadilan Hubungan Industrial (PHI) — the Industrial Relations Court. PHI typically rules within 50 working days.
- Appeal: direct cassation (kasasi) to the Supreme Court within 14 days for PHI judgments.
